SANTA MARIA WEATHER

so how is everyone's day going? mine is good. I caught a cold and running nose, but I'm good. This week the weather is super cold, what's up with that.

• it is fall season
• december is around the color
• we lost an hour of our day
• the temperature is just dropping

Don't get me wrong, I absoultely love the cold weather, but it's causing everyone to get sick, and I got a little sick, that is not fun.

TODAY'S ARGUEMENT [LOGOS]

So today in class I started an arguement. I wanted to be persuaisive so I used LOGOS. The topic of the arguement If cats are better than dogs. The reason I chose LOGOS was because it helps me prove that dogs are better than cats and the dogs can protect you, cats are more likely to run and hide. That shows that dogs instinctively protect their grounds, is it nessacary to mention more, that was really clear that dogs are better than cats.

ON SELF-RELIANCE PART 5

• insist on working on yourself, never imitate
• minds travel when the bodies are forced to stay at home
• no one can really now what anything is like untill they exprience it
• "Travelling is a fool's paradise." 
• indivdualism is not valued in today's culture
• "Prayer is the contemplation of the facts of life from the highest point of view."
• "All persons that ever existed are its forgotten ministers"
• beileve in your good ideas
• always take risks 

ON SELF-RELIANCE PART 4

• alot or people like to look good not act good
• a good idea can literally change your mind
•  be open to a good idea 
• "a foolish consistency is the hobogoblin of little minds"
• who cares if your ideas are different than yesterday
• read it forward, backward, or across and it still means the same thing ( a character ) 
• you have a sense or people, we do things that speak to our character every single day
• effermable = changes with time
• we respect those who don't need a thing from us
• we make impressions everyday 

> I am learning something new about self-reliance everyday. Something that got me thinking alot today was how everyone everywhere has a different impression about us and our character, to me this sound crazy but in the same way it makes sense, it is true when people say if you want to get to know someone, you need to spend time with them. 

ON SELF-RELIANCE PART 3

• "nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind"

→people should have learned more about self-help at a young age.. because the self-help industry makses so much money, all cause people never realized the importance of self-help

• "If malice and vanity wear the coat of philanthropy, shall that pass?"
• malice= evil intention
• vanity= to look good
• when someting is good call on that and when it is not

⇨ I find it extremely upsetting how people never learned the importance of self-help, another thing is that some industry that don't benefit people make so much money and the ones that actually "help" make much much more

• virtue= integrity and honesty
• bad news is louder than good new ( people doing bad things is more common than doing good things) 
• "it is easy to live up to the world's opinion"
• putting effort into being someone you aren't, you take from being your own character
• people are sadly losing the ability to say no in today's society, the world whips you as for it's displeasure
• people negative reaction to us isn't about us it's about them
• when you disagree with someone they start questioning themselves

• if choose not to decide, you still made a choice
• you can't show your best if you don't try your best 
• we feel like we are at our best, when we put our heart into it and we acknowledge it
• trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string 
• every teen don't care about what they don't care about 
• childern and rude people are just being themselves out loud is more okay than we think
•  it is a shame being born after 9/11 because things were less strict back then and now people born after are more obidient 

RHETORICAL STRATEGIES PART 1

ETHOS-  what the author is trying to make the audience feel

• the author, Johannes is a a philosopher who works with engineers in Stanford's Center for Automotive Research 
• Diana Divecha- credible because she has a Ph.D in psychology 

PATHOS- this focuses attention on the belieds of the audience

• Diana Divecha- "school with a positive climate faster healthy development; while negative school climate is associated with a higher student bullying..." 

LOGOS- they focus on their statement

• a study of 3b-first graders showed that when teachers were more emotionally supportive of students, childern were less agressive + had greater behavioral self-control,...

KAIROS-  this is speaking at the right time with good tone

• Self-driving cars are the perfect thing to talk about now because technology advances everyday, why wouldn't self-driving cars exist nowadays.

FIRST IMPRESSION: ON SELF-RELIANCE

The first impression I had in the article On Self-Reliance was great. I liked the part where it mentioned that imitation is suicide, it really stuck out to me because I totally could'nt agree more. This article was something I can totally understand because it gave me a sense of being relateable in some way if that makes sense. This article was definitly a thinker and that is something I do enjoy. This made me realize the importance of individualism.
