Questions
- The plot of the novel is basically about a strong and brave girl named Nhamo who was given the option to marry this abusive man or runaway and look for her dad, so she chose to runaway and look for her dad. Also what seemed to be a quick two day trip turned to a year long trip. During the year Nhamo was changing, she was growing up, and she learned how to act more modern. It also turns out that her family on her dad's side was super wealthy.
- I don't know if this is cliche but I would have to say that the theme is family. This is because this whole book about how she was with her mother's family but she rightfully belongs with her dad's family.
- My author's morning routine would have to be waking up early on a cold rainy day drinking something nice and warm. On this free day she gets comfy and stretches. For breakfast she eats a strawberry banana smoothie with almound milk, she sadly spills some on her carpet. After she is done eating she heads to her writing desk and continues to write this book. The three excerpts I got for these were "She turned over on her back to catch her breath. The lake roared in her ears, and sunlight jagged off the waves" "Nhamo felt slightly happier that this was a real lake and not the ghostly realm of njuzu" "She had no doubt that spirit hands had directed the boat when she was too weak to row".
- Personification:1)"The lake roared in her ears, and sunlight jagged off the waves" 2) "Stupid water!" She shouted at the lake. "Why can't you flow in that direction for a change?"' 3) "Fortunately, no matter how vigorously she paddled, the opening never got any closer" Mood: 1) "It's always my turn, thought Nhamo" 2) "Her body worked all day planting, weeding, baby-sitting, washing-oh, so many chores!" 3) "The child was sleeping by the door of the hut, but the animal walked past her and attacked mother instead"
