HAWTORNE & POE ON DREAMS

The author uses the idea of dreaming to make us think about what's real so we can in some way feel and comprehend how the situation unfolds. In both, Young Good Brown and Dream within a dream, we understand that what we feel and possibly witness could be real or just a figment of our imagination. Although, in Young Goodman Brown the setting can already set the mood for scary things such as spending time with the devil. The elements I see in both pieces are to remind the audience not everything is what it is, but they are both different because they both have different main points of their story.
