- gatsby's real name is james gatz but changed it to jay gatsby
- the picture in gatsby's room is of Dan Cody, gastby worked for him, he was pretty much a man who made it big, he was very wealthy, (after gatsby met him, he fell in love with luxury)
- the real story of jay gatz is that he comes from a not so wealthy start in north dakota, he went to a minnesota college,(he dropped out after 2 weeks) and paid he college from a job as janitor, he didn't like the job it was embarrassing
- alcohol and money figure in the story because after cody's death (he was a heavy drinker), gatsby grew more aware of the dangers of drinking, he became not much a drinker as a result
- the convo with gatsby, tom mr. and mrs. salone, goes okay but we can tell that gatsby is annoyed by tom, tom and the salones aren't being sincere when they invite gatsby, and tom was thrown off when gatsby mentioned daisy, he didn't like that ( he still doesn't know they were a thing back then ) they all don't really seem to enjoy eachothers company
- when tom and daisy get to gatsby's, tom is clearly not enjoying it, he even badmouths gatsby when he is talking to daisy, she defenses gatsby
- gatsby's plan is to recreate the past and moments he had with daisy, he thinks the all his wealth in a way brings daisy back 😔, ( i mean i hope too)
- gatsby is so set on recreating the past but that is just not possible there is a qoute that goes like "things never happen the same way twice" (not qoute from the book) and that's true
