IT'S COMPLICATED

Montag's reaction was eye opening and really taking it all in if that makes sense. My reaction was really surprised because I was not an ending like this, it is like they were basically waiting this out. It kind of aligns with my experience in dealing with emotionally complex situations.

GIVE US A HAND

About Granger's grandfather description that made an impression on me is that he remembered a lot in detail. His grandfather used his hand to build things, he was a sculptor and it matters to us because it really shows how people aren't like that in the world they live in.

AS WE GROW, WE CHANGE

What makes a character dynamic? I would say that a character that changes the way they think is a dynamic character. Guy Montag is a dynamic character. The first way the character, Guy Montag changes is when he questions himself on his happiness. This happened when Clarisse McClellan asked "are you happy?". The second way Montag changes is when his wife tries to commit suicide and when he called for an emergency. In this situation in the place of professional M.D.s like expected, Montag is surprised to see that emergency operator sent two handymen, he says "We get these cases nine or ten a night. Got so many, starting a few years ago,... You don't need an M.D., case like this; all you need is two handymen, clean up the problem in half an hour. Look". That is when he realized alot of people in that society are wanting to get out. The third way Montag changes is when he witnessed a woman die with her books on a routine call for the firemen. The woman would budge when it came to her books and that was that last straw for Monatg. This character changes because he realizes how bad the world he lives in is. This character's reflect the overall theme and tone of the book because actually living in a world with no books or value of life/living shows us how bad the world can be. This world in the book symbolizes a world with no ideas or inner thoughts.

MURDER JUST BECAUSE

Is there anything in real life that you think can motivate an otherwise peaceful, kind person to murder? Is murder ever justified?

I think something truly heartbreak can motivate an otherwise peaceful, kind person to commit murder. I think murder can be justified, hard to say, I have no clue.

NO GUTS NO GLORY

Yes, I think the Montag's decision to read books was worth the risk because, he is standing for something he believes in.

THE GLORY OF THE MISTAKE

It is good for Montag to make mistakes because people initially learn from their mistakes. We can use mistakes as opportunities, not just to learn, but also to reinforce our courage and build the capacity to make smart risks as we grow by accepting our mistakes in the first place.

A CASE OF WAR

In this case, people could account personal safety from the coronavirus. Although I do think this could motivate people into doing some sort of damage. I think people resort this type of violence to prove a point.

FAILING TO PLAN IS PLANNING TO FAIL

The plans Montag and Faber make is to put books in firemen's residences and burn their homes down. I see this leading to Montag getting more attached to books.

SOMETIMES YOU NEED A PROFESSOR

Montag wants to get in touch with Faber because he is confident that that Faber is the only person that can understand him. Montag is clearly showing signs of wanting to dabble in the reading of books and Faber might help Montag follow through I'd say.

IS IT JUST ABOUT THE JOB

I think that what Montag does for a living is just wrong, no one should be starting fires. I would feel wrong and on edge having to do something that hurts other people, I just don't like seeing people sad. It is not just about the pay check, there should be more important values that should guide what we do in our working lives because it would definitely help us live a good life.

THIS CAT IS CURIOUS

I think our curiosity is determined by both our personality because the way we are raised has alot to do with it, if you think about and it doesn't matter what culture you are. In the case of "curiosity killed the cat" I think curiosity hits people differently, you're either the type of person willing to check something out confident or nervous, or you're the type who knows your limits and don't check things out. If that makes sense. The cat gets curious enough to take the risk because they really don't know any better.

MY INNER HAPPY

What makes us happy? I'd definitely say that external things play a big part in today's happiness sadly.  In Fahrenheit 451, Beatty says it's external things like entertainment, sports, or food. I have learned to not agree with Beatty over the couple of years because what can't be bought with money brings true happiness. A memory from me is from freshmen year on my birthday when all my then friends surprised me with ballons and wished me a happy birthday. I am not saying the ballons made me happy, it was the thought that they remembered. You just feel so loved and that made me happy. A memory like that makes people honestly happy, it's just so pure. There might exist internal sources of happiness on which we can draw to sustain ourselves, I say might because there are people who can be happy without materialistic things and people who can't.

ANTI-INTELLECTUALISM IN AMERICA

More people in our culture don't think of intelligence as a superpower because what the main focus is money. Everyone just knows that money is power regardless where you come from, it's like the normal. The media and our own school doesn't champion academic accomplishments the way we celebrate football games and rallies because there is a very large amount of people who think keep up with school and good grades is not fun. So many people fear, critize, and insult smart people in class or the work place b3ecause in a sense they're better than them. In a sense we have absolutely become the society that Ray Bradbury feared.

UNITED WE STAND

Independence is important when you want to feel free and explore new things basically. This also important because it helps you become a more secure and confidant person. Interdependence is important when you're basically keeping a steady support system with someone or something. It can help with outcomes and personal growth.
